Den Jyske Opera / Danish National Opera is a self-governing institution, regulated by the Danish Ministry of Culture's Executive Order No. 539 on theatres and other institutions in the performing arts sector with special responsibilities. 

Supported by the Danish Ministry of Culture and Aarhus Municipality, Den Jyske Opera / Danish National Opera is based in Aarhus and tours throughout Denmark with both traditional and innovative opera for all ages, with a focus on audience development.
